CWRU Baseball Places Five on CSC Academic All-District Team

Five members of the Case Western Reserve University baseball team - graduate student infielder Franco Alonso, graduate student catcher Jack Anderson, graduate student infielder Zack Carinci, senior outfielder Nick Harms, and sophomore designated hitter Tyler Stillson - were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team based on their athletic and academic achievements over their collegiate careers and during the 2025 season in particular.

The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Players honored were selected by their school's Sports Information Directors and must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Schools are allowed a maximum of five nominations.

This was the third straight year that Anderson, Carinci, and Harms received Academic All-District honors, while Alonso and Stillson were recognized for the first time in their respective careers.

All five have been placed on the ballot for the 2025 Academic All-America Team, which will be released on Tuesday, July 1. Anderson (first team in 2024 and second team in 2023), Harms (second team in 2024 and third team in 2023), and Carinci (third team in 2023) have each earned Academic All-America honors over their careers.

Alonso was named to both the D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings Third Team and the All-UAA Second Team in 2025 in addition to being selected to the Cleveland Regional All-Tournament Team He played in 44 games and made 43 starts during the season, seeing most of his playing time at second base. Alonso hit .353 with a pair of home runs and 24 runs batted in while slugging .467 with a .454 on-base percentage. He scored 45 runs during the year and totaled 11 doubles and a triple while leading the team with 20 stolen bases.

Alonso, in his second year as a Spartan as a graduate transfer from Cornell University, has a 4.0 cumulative GPA while getting his Master's Degree in Medical Physiology. He had an undergraduate GPA of 3.6 at Cornell.

Anderson, an ABCA/ Rawlings All-Region First Team, D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team, and All-UAA First Team honoree, started all 45 games for the Spartans and hit .366 with a .525 slugging percentage and a .480 on-base percentage. He totaled nine doubles, four triples, and four home runs while scoring 57 runs, driving in 41, and stealing 18 bases during the campaign. He was named the UAA Hitter of the Week once during the campaign and was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the NCAA Cleveland Regional.

Anderson is a second-year law student at CWRU with a 3.648 GPA after notching a 3.711 GPA during his undergraduate career at the school.

Carinci was named to the All-UAA Second Team after playing in 40 games during the year, including 36 as a starter. He committed just two errors at third base during the year, notching a .981 fielding percentage at the hot corner. Carinci finished the campaign batting .345 with a .432 slugging percentage and a .416 on-base percentage while scoring 38 runs and driving in 27. He totaled nine doubles, one home run, and 16 stolen bases during the season.

Carinci, who received his Masters' in Finance at CWRU after recording a 3.575 GPA this year, held a 3.729 cumulative GPA as an undergraduate student majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Harms claimed a plethora of postseason honors in 2025, earning selection to the D3baseball.com All-America First Team, the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Third Team, the D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Teams, and the All-UAA First Team, in addition to being selected at the D3baseball.com Region Player of the Year and the UAA Most Outstanding Player. He finished the season hitting a team-high .401 with a .775 slugging percentage and a .498 on-base percentage. He connected for 14 home runs, the second-most in a season in program history while adding 14 doubles, six triples, 60 runs scored, 58 RBIs, and stole 17 bases on as many attempts. He was named the UAA Athlete of the Week on five occasions during the season and was selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week once. Harms was named the Most Valuable Player of the Cleveland Regional of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Harms holds a 3.976 cumulative GPA as a Computer Science major at CWRU.

Stillson, the utility player on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team and the D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team, and an All-UAA Second Team honoree, was a success both at the plate and on the mound during his sophomore campaign. Seeing time at a variety of positions, Stillson started all 45 games and batted .351 with a .573 slugging percentage and a .388 on-base percentage. He totaled 15 doubles, two triples, and eight home runs while scoring 42 runs and driving in 48 with seven stolen bases. On the mound, he went 2-1 over nine starts with a 6.02 ERA and 40 strikeouts with a .287 opponents' average in 43.1 innings of work. Stillson was named the UAA Pitcher of the Week once during the season.

Stillson, a Mechanical Engineering major, has a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA during his time at CWRU.

The Spartans finished the 2025 season with a 30-14-1 overall record, reaching the NCAA Championship for the third consecutive year and the eighth time overall in program history. CWRU reached the Super Regionals for the first time and claimed the UAA Championship for the sixth time.
