Seven members of the Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team earned All-University Athletic Association honors on the second and final day of the 2025 UAA Outdoor Championships held at Icahn Stadium in Manhattan, New York, on Saturday.
Overall, CWRU placed fifth in the conference with 73.5 points. Emory won the conference championship with 213.5 points, followed by Chicago (176.5 points), Carnegie Mellon (134.0), and WashU (101.5). Trailing Case Western Reserve were NYU with 61.0 points and Brandeis with 49.0 points.
Two Spartans placed in top three in final races after qualifying during preliminary heats on Saturday. Junior hurdler/sprinter Bryce Hodge finished third in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.09 seconds to capture the third All-UAA honor of his career and second in the event. In the 400-meter dash, first-year sprinter Madhan Manikandaswamy captured his first of three All-UAA honors at the championship by placing third in 49.36 seconds.
CWRU also placed third in both the 4x100-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay. The shorter relay of Manikandaswamy, junior Troy Olson, senior Jack Xia, and junior Josh Bates crossed the line at 43.19 seconds. Bates and Manikandaswamy were joined by graduate student Yusuf Shaaban and first-year Charlie Stipanovich for the longer relay, finishing in 3:19.25. Bates earned his fourth and fifth career All-UAA honors on Sunday. It was the second career All-UAA honor for Shaaban and first for Olson, Xia, and Stipanovich.
Stipanovich earned points for the Spartans by placing fifth in the 400-meter dash in 49.67 seconds. Bates and Shaaban finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles final with times of 55.83 seconds and 56.68 seconds.
First-year runner Donovan Crowley missed All-UAA honors in the 1500-meter run by 0.79 seconds, placing fourth in the event with a time of 3:55.93. Senior runner Aidan Nathan added three points for CWRU with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 14:55.86.
In the field, sophomore jumper Tanush Anand and first-year jumper Krish Gupta cleared 1.83 meters to place seventh and eighth. Gupta also leaped 6.61 meters in the long jump to place eighth. Sophomore thrower Toby Langsner placed fifth in the discus throw with a heave of 39.77 meters.
CWRU track and field student-athletes will have three meets in May to improve their times or marks for qualification to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The first opportunity is on Saturday, May 3 at the WVU Invite in Morgantown, West Virginia.
