Sophomore thrower Toby Langsner of the Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team earned All-University Athletic Association honors on the first day of the 2025 UAA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Chicago at the Henry Crown Fieldhouse in Chicago on Saturday.
Langsner placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 16.10 meters to earn the first All-Conference honors of his career. Simon Dixon of Chicago won the event with a mark of 16.75 meters. Senior thrower Kwabena Agyemang placed sixth with a throw of 14.00 meters to add three points for the Spartans.
The top three finish was the first by a Spartan in the event since Brian Holden placed third in 2020. Nick Heim was the last CWRU student-athlete to finish at least second in the weight throw, accomplishing the feat in 2016.
After one day of competition, Case Western Reserve is fifth in the conference standings with 24.0 points. Chicago leads with 55.0 points, followed by Emory (42.5 points), Carnegie Mellon (39.0), and WashU (25.5). Trailing CWRU are Brandeis and NYU with 4.0 points each.
Sophomore jumper Tanush Anand placed fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.94 meters, and senior runner Aidan Nathan placed seventh in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:14.66 to earn points for the Spartans.
The CWRU distance medley relay of first-year runner Donovan Crowley, senior sprinter Nicolas Lende, sophomore runner Jacob Slater, and senior runner Nate Gilbert finished fifth in 10:28.60.
In preliminary action, junior hurdler/sprinter Josh Bates qualified for two finals on Sunday, recording the fourth-fastest time in the 400-meter dash (51.04 seconds) and seventh-fastest time in the 200-meter dash (22.76 seconds). He will be joined in the 200-meter finals by first-year sprinter Marvin Sze, who finished in the race in 22.91 seconds.
Both junior sprinter/hurdlers Bryce Hodge and Joshua Park will race in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles on Sunday. Hodge had the fourth-best time of 8.46 seconds, and Park qualified with the eighth-fastest time of 8.58 seconds.
The conference championships conclude on Sunday with action in the field starting at 11 a.m. ET and on the track at 1 p.m. ET.
