Shaaban Earns UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Case Western Reserve University senior hurdler/jumper Yusuf Shaaban earned University Athletic Association Track Athlete of the Week honors after his performance on Saturday.

Last weekend, Shaaban earned a pair of top two finishes for the Spartans at the W&L Track Carnival hosted by Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, to begin the 2024 outdoor season. As an individual, Shaaban placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.16 seconds, the ninth-fastest time in Division III this season. He helped CWRU win the 4x400-meter relay in 3:22.71, the seventh-best time in the country. In the field, Shaaban placed sixth in the high jump by clearing 1.83 meters, and he added a 17th-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 23.31 seconds.

This is his first career UAA Athlete of the Week honor.

The Spartans will travel to New Concord, Ohio, on March 22 and 23 for the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational, hosted by Muskingum University. Events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
