Facing a challenging schedule during the 2024 campaign, the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team finished the season with a record of 5-5-6. The Spartans faced three teams that qualified for the NCAA Championship, including a quarterfinalist, and nine teams that ended the season in the top 70 in the NCAA Power Index (NPI).
CWRU went 5-2-2 in non-conference play, including a dominating 4-0 win at Wooster early in the year. The Spartans defeated crosstown rival John Carroll, who was ranked 24th in the country at the time, 2-0 at home for their first win over the Blue Streaks in six years. Case Western Reserve also used a 90th-minute goal from first-year Amir Awais to tie Denison on September 21. The Big Red reached the national quarterfinals later in the season. CWRU also picked up wins over Lycoming (1-0), Stockton (3-2), and Marietta (2-0) and tied Mount Union 2-2 to finish the non-conference slate.
In the parity-filled University Athletic Association, the Spartans tied four of their seven opponents. A goal from senior Kysen Kroeger in the 51st minute earned CWRU a 1-1 draw with NYU in the conference opener. In Chicago, junior goalkeeper Bradley Winter saved seven shots to secure a scoreless tie with the University of Chicago. Two days later, Awais struck again, scoring in the 87th minute to tie WashU 1-1 in St. Louis. The Spartans ended the season with a thrilling 2-2 tie against Carnegie Mellon with Awais scoring in the 82nd minute and sophomore Adam Pluszczyk tallying his third goal of the campaign in the final minute.
Kroeger, Winter, and senior Lukas Dalakis were each named to the All-UAA Second Team following the campaign.
Kroeger finished the season as the team's leading scorer, finding the back of the net seven times in 16 games. He added two assists during the year for 16 points, tying for third in the conference for goals and fourth in the conference for points per game. Over the last three seasons, Kroeger appeared in all 50 Case Western Reserve contests, scoring 13 goals, and adding four assists for 30 points.
Winter started 13 games for the Spartans, missing the other three contests due to injury. He made 43 saves in 1,170 minutes and posted four individual shutouts. Winter had a goals against average of 1.15, ranking third in the conference, and his four shutouts tied for second in the association. He has recorded 12 shutouts in his career, tied for the fourth-most in program history and four fewer than the program record.
Dalakis started every game for the Spartans for the third consecutive season and finished his career with a streak of 51 starts in a row for CWRU. He led the team with five assists during the campaign, which tied for fifth in the UAA, and totaled nine points with two goals. He finished his career with eight goals and 10 assists for 26 points, playing in 65 of a possible 66 games in four seasons with the team.
Awais finished his first collegiate season with four goals, the second-highest total on the team, and Pluszczyk added three goals and three assists during his second season with the team. Four Spartans started every contest in 2024, including junior defender Phillip Washington and sophomore defender Cameron Thayer, with six additional team members missing just one contest during the season.
