For the second time this season, Case Western Reserve University senior defensive end Kaden Tong was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Tong earned the honor after his standout performance to lead the Spartans' defense in a 34-12 win at Bethany College on Saturday.

Tong had one of the best games of his career for the Spartans, finishing the contest with a career-high 14 tackles (13 solo) to lead all CWRU players, including three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. It was the second time through four games this season that he has registered at least two sacks and three tackles for a loss. His effort helped the CWRU hold Bethany to just 312 total yards, including 106 rushing and 206 passing.

Tong leads all CWRU players with 34 tackles (20 solo), 6.5 tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks this season.

This was Tong's second D3football.com Team of the Week honor this season and the second of his career. He is the first CWRU player since Joshua Smith in 2019 to earn multiple D3football.com Team of the Week honors in the same season, and joins Smith, Cameron Brown, Brian Calderone, and Ian Henderson as the only players in program history to receive the honor more than once over a career.

Tong has helped the Spartans win back-to-back games and open the season with a 3-1 record. CWRU will be back in action on Saturday in Latrobe, Pennsylvania against Saint Vincent College (2-2). Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
