Eight CWRU Football Players Receive CSC Academic All-District Recognition

The Case Western Reserve University football team saw eight of its players receive College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Recognition for their academic and athletic achievements during the 2025 season. Spartans recognized with the honor included senior defensive back Osi Chukwuocha, junior defensive back Tyler Fikis, senior offensive lineman David Freedman, senior running back Stefan Lopez, senior offensive lineman Owen Myer, senior defensive lineman Sean Reilly, senior defensive lineman Joseph Swarm, and sophomore defensive lineman Jack Tierney.

It marked the second consecutive season that both Chukwuocha and Myer received the honor, while the other six players were selected to the Academic All-District Team for the first time in their respective careers.

The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Players honored were selected by their school's Sports Information Directors and must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. A maximum of eight student-athletes from each school can be nominated.

Among the CWRU Academic All-Region honorees, Chukwuocha, Myer, and Swarm were each chosen as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced at noon on Tuesday, January 27.
