Russo, Hosey Earn UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

First-year utility player Isabella Russo and first-year pitcher Kylie Hosey each earned University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week Honors for softball for their performances last weekend.

Russo, the UAA Hitter of the Week, hit .500 (six-for-12) with three home runs in the Spartans four-game series at Brandeis over the weekend. She reached base in all four games, recording a .500 on-base percentage, and slugged a home run in three of the games, resulting in a 1.250 slugging percentage. Russo drove in four runs, scored five times, and stole a base in the series while playing errorless baseball in right field and at shortstop. Four of her five homers this season have been in the last six games, all UAA contests, and her three hits on Sunday were a career high.

Russo is second on the team with a .322 batting average, third on the team with a .403 on-base percentage, and third on the team with a .610 slugging percentage. She has driven in 14 runs, scored 16 times, and stolen eight bases this season.

This is the first UAA Hitter of the Week honor of Russo's career.

Hosey, the UAA Pitcher of the Week, recorded two wins with a 1.02 earned run average in the Spartans four-game series at Brandeis. She struck out nine batters in 13 and two-third innings while recording a 2-0 record in three appearances. Hosey allowed the Judges to hit just .188 against her and issued just one walk. In the series finale on Sunday, she pitched her first career shutout, allowing just one hit in seven innings with one walk and three strikeouts.

Hosey is third in the conference with a 2.01 ERA, second in the conference with 11 wins, and fourth in the conference with 68 strikeouts. Her six wins in UAA contests this season are tied for the most with first-year teammate Lexi Miskey.
