Over the next few weeks, athletics.case.edu will be digging into our archives to highlight some of the great games and events for the Spartans over the past few years.
The Spartans walk-off 5-4 win in seven innings during the first game of a doubleheader against Saint John Fisher had a bit of everything - a leadoff home run by Rocco Maue, the first career complete game for Nick Denove, and some late-game heroics. The Spartans trailed 4-3 heading into the final inning of the game, but a one-out triple by sophomore shortstop Jacob Lott put the potential game-tying run at third base. After Maue was hit by a pitch, Ryan followed with a double to left field, scoring Lott to tie the game, and putting the game winning run at third base. Senior third baseman Jacob Kucia was walked to intentionally load the bases, and first-year Cole Jarrett followed with a looping single down the left field line, scoring Maue easily and giving the Spartans their first walk-off win of the season.
