CWRU Classic Game of the Day: CWRU Men's Soccer Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals

The Spartans rush the field to celebrate advancing in the NCAA Championships.

Over the next few weeks, athletics.case.edu will be digging into our archives to highlight some of the great games and events for the Spartans over the past few years.

Today's classic game takes us back to the 2018 season, when the CWRU men's soccer team triumphed over Kenyon College on penalty kicks to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championships. After the score was knotted 2-2 after two overtime periods, the game went into a shootout to see who would move on in the tournament. First-year goalkeeper Charlie Fink made a diving save on Kenyon's fifth penalty kick attempt, allowing the Spartans to earn the first quarterfinal berth in program history.
