Case Western Reserve University sophomore Rahul Mikkilineni was the first Spartan to cross the finish line on Saturday afternoon, pacing the Spartans to a third-place finish out of six teams at the Allegheny Cross Country Classic in Meadville, Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.
Mikkilineni led a tight-pack of Spartans scorers in the four-mile race, placing 20th overall out of 75 runners in the race with a time of 22:27. He was followed by junior Daniel Grasing in 23rd-place with a time of 22:30, and sophomore Ben Browngardt in 25th-place with a time of 22:41. Completing CWRU's group of scoring finishers on Saturday were freshman Jacob Conard, who placed 31st overall with a time of 23:00 in his first collegiate race, and sophomore Maxwell Griesheimer, who finished 33rd with a time of 22:03. Freshman Will Dehmler was right behind Greisheimer, placing 35th with a time of 23:14, and sophomore Bryden Moxley followed in 38th-place with a time of 23:34. Graduate student Andrew Gold (43rd, 24:04) completed CWRU's list of finishers in Saturday's race.
The Spartans finished with an aggregate team score of 84, finishing behind first-place Carnegie Mellon (15 points) and second-place Allegheny (51 points).
Case Western Reserve will be off next weekend, before returning to action at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, September 28th at 2:00 p.m. in Cedarville, Ohio.
