DELAWARE, Ohio - The Case Western Reserve University women's track and field team finished eighth overall at the 2015 All-Ohio Division III Track and Field Championship held at Selby Stadium on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Spartans finished first, third and sixth in the 5,000-meter run. Junior Kelsey Aamoth (Solon, Ohio/Solon) crossed the finish line for a new All-Ohio record and the title with a time of 17:20.52. Senior Kristen Ruckstuhl (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and junior Lydia Green (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) finished third and sixth with times of 17:34.22 and 18:23.15, respectively.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, freshman Danielle Kulpins (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) finished in third place with a time of 11:31.35 while junior Evy Hail (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River) also scored points for the Spartans finishing with a time of 11:39.32 for fifth place.
Junior Taylor O'Neil (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.82.
In the jumps, junior Ashley Leyden (Atco, N.J./St. Joseph) finished sixth in the triple with a mark of 10.32 meters while senior Rachel Tan (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) lifted herself over the bar of the high jump for a final height of 1.52 meters. Junior Christen Saccucci (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) and senior Sophia Herzog (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) finished sixth and tied for eighth in the pole vault with jumps of 3.25 meters and 3.10 meters, respectively.
Also in the field, freshman Cassandra Laios (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) tossed the shot put the distance of 12.03 meters to finish seventh and freshman Rachael Collins (Cave Creek, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) heaved the javelin 31.62 meters for a seventh place finish.
The Spartans will return to the track and field next Saturday, April 18 at Baldwin Wallace University for the Sparky Adams Invitational.
