Box Score BEREA, OH - Senior Kevin Johnstone (Placentia, Calif./Valencia) threw a complete-game six hitter, but the Case Western Reserve baseball team dropped a 4-3 road decision to No. 16 Baldwin Wallace University Wednesday afternoon.
Johnstone walked one batter and struck out six in eight innings.
The Spartans took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning when junior second baseman Zack Tobias (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) reached on an error, stole second base, moved to third on a single by sophomore catcher Eric Eldred (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh), and scored when freshman centerfielder Daniel Watson (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Priory School) reached on an error. Eldred came around to score on a groundout by junior leftfielder Marques Winick (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North).
CWRU extended its lead to 3-1 in the sixth inning when freshman rightfielder Nate Glasser (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker) singled, stole two bases, and scored on a Tobias groundout.
The Yellow Jackets tied the game with a two-run home run in the sixth inning and scored the winning run with two outs in the eighth inning.
Watson and Winick each finished with two hits and one run batted in for the Spartans (8-9), who host Allegheny College Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Nobby's Ball Park.
