Krimbill Earns Victory in Spartan Loss to D-1 Cleveland State

CLEVELAND - Junior CJ Krimbill (Scottsdale, AZ /Desert Mountain) earned a three-set win as the Case Western Reserve men's tennis team fell 6-1 to NCAA Division I Cleveland State University on Sunday at Paramount Westlake Tennis Club.

Krimbill took the first set from Joe VanMeter at No. 1 singles in a tiebreaker, winning 7-3 to take the set 7-6. After dropping the second set 7-5, Krimbill rebounded for a 10-5 victory in the 10-point tiebreaker to determine the third set and match.

Senior Will Drougas (Roanoke, VA/Salem) took the first set in his match at No. 2 doubles before falling in three sets.

The Spartans, winners of five consecutive matches against Division III competition, are now 13-8 this season. No. 12 CWRU travels to play UAA rival No. 9 Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, a key matchup between nationally ranked teams that will play a major role in determining seeding for the 2015 UAA Men's Tennis Championship.
