Men's Tennis

Collins, Daum Lead Spartan Men's Tennis Past Ohio Wesleyan, 9-0

CLEVELAND - Sophomores Adam Collins (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) and Freddy Daum (Katy, TX /Cinco Ranch) teamed up for a doubles point and each earned a point in singles to lead the Case Western Reserve men's tennis team to a 9-0 win over Ohio Wesleyan University at the Cleveland Racquet Club.

Collins and Daum recorded an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles to give the Spartans a 3-0 lead entering singles play. Freshmen Andrew Komarov (Buffalo Grove, IL/Adlai E. Stevenson) and Tytus Chen (San Jose, CA/Mountain View) also won 8-0 at No.2 doubles. Senior Will Drougas (Roanoke, VA/ Salem) and junior Viswajit Simhadri (Saratoga, CA/Lynbrook) posted an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Collins dropped only one game in a straight-set win at No. 3 singles and Daum duplicated that effort at No. 6 singles.

Junior Samuel Shi (Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, while senior Bas van Lent (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) and sophomore Joshua Dughi (Miami, FL/Ransom Everglades) each won their matches in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.

Sophomore Kevin Dong (Bishop, GA/Athens Academy) won the first set of his match at No. 5 singles, 6-1, and led 1-0 in the second set before his opponent retired due to injury.

The Spartans improved to 11-7 heading into this evening's match versus crosstown rival John Carroll University.
