Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio – Freshman forward Patrick O'Day (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) scored a pair of goals to bring his early season total to four and the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team improved to 3-0 with a 4-1 victory in its 2011 home-opener versus Muskingum University at Case Field.
The Spartans now have seven goals in their last two games and will return to action at home this Sunday, September 11 versus local-rival John Carroll University at 2:00 p.m. With the loss, the Muskies fall to 1-2.
The Spartans got on the board early in the first half when O'Day scored in the 20th minute via an assist from junior forward Eric Erb (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington). Case added to its lead in the 31st minute when senior forward Vinny Bell (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) knocked in a header for his third goal of the season.
Muskingum got a goal from Cam Jonard in the 37th minute and the game went into halftime at 2-1.
The Spartans then blew the game open in the second half when O'Day struck again in the 51st minute with an assist from Bell and junior midfielder Ross Twanmoh (Fallston, Md./Fallston) scored his first goal of the season following an assist from freshman defender Taylor Fletcher (Missouri City, Texas/Strake Jesuit College Prep).
In goal, senior keeper Ben Yabrow (Marietta, Ga./George Walton Comprehensive) recorded two saves en route to improving to 3-0.
