The third-ranked Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team used three second half goals to defeat Kenyon College 3-0 on Saturday night at DiSanto Field in Cleveland.

With their seventh consecutive win to begin the campaign, the Spartans improved to 7-0-0 this season. The Owls fell to 5-2-0 in 2026.

Stats and Standouts

• The three CWRU goalscorers were graduate student Saiheed Jah, sophomore Gavin Trosch, and senior Ohta Kamiya
• Jah, junior Owen Guffey, junior Mitchell Fein, and sophomore Aydin Sumer added assists
• Sophomore Carter Shedd saved a season-high six shots to record his first career shutout, lowering his goals against average to 0.46

First Half

• The first shot in the goalless first half came in the ninth minute of play
• Shedd made his first save five minutes later off a corner kick
• Senior Cormac Apostolides took the hosts' first shot of the game in the 16th minute, missing left
• A Kenyon shot hit the right post a few minutes later
• The Owls nearly scored at the end of the period, earning a pair of corner kicks in the final five minutes
• The visitors had three shots, two of which were blocked and one that required a save

Second Half

• The Spartans struck quickly in the second half, breaking the deadlock on a set piece goal in the 47th minute
• Guffey sent a corner kick from the far end of the field into the crowded box
• Jah put his head on the ball and pushed it past the goalkeeper for his first career goal
• Guffey was credited with his fourth assist of the campaign
• Shedd made a save a few minutes later to preserve the lead
• In the 65th minute, the Owls earned a pair of corner kicks but were unable to find the back of the net
• A few minutes later, the Spartans doubled their lead with another set piece goal
• Sumer launched a throw in toward the box which Jah headed toward the far poast
• Trosch made a dive at the ball, sending it into the back of the net with his head for his second goal of the season
• Sumer earned his first career assist, and Jah was credited with his second of the year
• Kenyon pressed for the remaining 22 minutes, controlling possession and firing off five shots
• Kamiya sealed the victory with just 3:27 left to play with his ninth career goal
• Fein found Kamiya, who had beaten his man, with a nice pass in the middle of the box
• The senior dribbled around a sliding defender and fired a shot past the goalkeeper to make the score 3-0
• Fein earned his third assist of the season

Spartan Notes

• The Spartans improved to 6-18-5 in the all-time series with the Owls, earning their first win over Kenyon since 2018. The teams later faced off that season in the third round of the NCAA Tournament, tying after two overtimes as CWRU advanced on penalty kicks
• CWRU is just one of eight teams in Division III that has won all of its games in 2026
• Kenyon held a 17-5 edge in shots and 6-3 advantage in shots on goal
• The game featured 23 total fouls and six yellow cards
• Fein has recorded at least one point in his last four games
• The shutout was the fourth this season for the Spartans, who have allowed just three goals in seven games
