Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award for 19th Consecutive Season

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team was selected as a recipient of the AVCA Team Academic Award based on the Spartans' outstanding grade point average during the 2025-26 academic year.

CWRU is receiving the Team Academic Award for the 19th consecutive season, tied for the seventh longest streak in Division III and the longest active streak among University Athletic Association schools. Seven of the eight members of the UAA received Team Academic Awards.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Karen Farrell, the Spartans posted a 2025-26 team grade point average of 3.574. CWRU was one of 233 Division III women's volleyball teams to receive the AVCA Team Academic Award.

The Team Academic Award, which was first awarded following the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale.

CWRU finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 17-14, the team's fourth winning season in a row. The Spartans commence the 2026 campaign on Tuesday, September 1 with a home match against Mount Union beginning at 7 p.m. inside Horsburgh Gymnasium.
