The 12 2026 CWRU Track & Field/ Cross Country Academic All-District honorees

Twelve Spartans Named to CSC Academic All-District Track & Field/ Cross Country Team

Twelve Case Western Reserve University student-athletes were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Track & Field/ Cross Country Team for their athletic and academic achievements during the 2025-26 year. Spartans recognized included sophomore Donovan Crowley, senior Anthony DeCarlo, senior Connor Evans, sophomore Artin Fazeli, junior Toby Langsner, and junior Jacob Slater of the men's team, and senior Ayla Grabenbauer, senior Julia Hluck, senior Lauren Iagnemma, senior Madison Martinez, senior Grace Misiunas, and senior Melanie Taylor of the women's team.

Grabenbauer and Iagnemma each secured the honor for the third consecutive year, while Misiunas, Langsner, and Slater each won it for the second time. It was the first career Academic All-District award for the other seven honorees. Crowley and Slater were both selected to advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Players honored were selected by their school's Sports Information Directors and must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average while finishing in the top 50 at the NCAA Cross Country Regional Championship or ranking among the top 50 in the region in an individual event during the indoor or outdoor track & field seasons. Schools are allowed a maximum of six men's and six women's nominations.

Crowley competed for both the cross country and track and field teams. He earned all-region honors for the cross country season for the second consecutive year, placing seventh at the regional meet, before going on to place 42nd at the NCAA Championship. He also was second in the region in the indoor mile (4:09.32), fourth in the outdoor 1,500-meter run (3:51.40), 14th in the outdoor 5,000-meter run (14:54.49), and 19th in the outdoor 800-meter run (1:54.74). Crowley also won the University Athletic Association Championship in the 1,500-meter run and earned All-UAA honors as a part of the 4x800-meter relay. He has a 3.792 cumulative grade point average as an electrical engineering and computer science major.

DeCarlo is a biomedical engineering major with a 3.648 GPA at CWRU. He finished the outdoor season ranked fifth among all competitors in the region in the pole vault with a season-best clearance of 4.82 meters to earn the first all-region honor of his career.

Evans secured All-UAA honors during the outdoor season, placing second in the discus throw at the conference meet with a mark of 43.62 meters. He ranked among the top-50 competitors in the region in the 60-meter hurdles (8.60 seconds, 28th) during the indoor season, and in the decathlon (5,155 points, 20th), discus (43.78m, 25th), and the 110-meter hurdles (15.41 seconds, 32nd) during the outdoor campaign. Evans graduated with a 3.841 GPA as a mechanical engineering major.

Fazeli earned indoor All-UAA honors during his sophomore campaign with a third-place finish in the long jump (6.53m) at the conference championship meet. He ranked 20th among Great Lakes Region competitors in the pole vault (4.36m) and 37th in the long jump (6.56m) during the indoor campaign and 18th in the pole vault (4.44m) during the outdoor season. Fazeli holds a 3.976 GPA as a nursing major.

Grabenbauer, a biomedical engineering major with a 4.0 GPA, placed 42nd at the NCAA Regional meet during the cross country season. She went on to earn all-region acclaim during the outdoor season, ranking fourth regionally and 25th nationally in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while also finishing 10th in the region in the indoor 3,000-meter run (10:13.47) and 14th in the 1,500-meter run (4:41.39).

Hluck also had a perfect 4.0 GPA and graduated from CWRU as a biochemistry major. She was ranked 36th in the region in the indoor mile (5:14.30), 31st in the outdoor 1,500-meter run (4:46.87), and 39th in the 800-meter run (2:20.04).

Despite battling injuries in the fall, Iagnemma was among the team's top-seven finishers in each of the three cross country races she competed in. She went on to rank 15th in the region in the indoor 3,000-meter run (10:16.40), 12th in the outdoor 5,000-meter run (17:30.47), and 19th in the outdoor 1,500-meter run (4:42.67). Iagnemma graduated with a 4.0 GPA while majoring in psychology and Spanish.

Langsner was an all-conference honoree during the indoor season, placing second in the weight throw at the UAA Championship with a mark of 16.06 meters. During the indoor campaign, he ranked 23rd in the Great Lakes Region in the weight throw (16.06m) and 42nd in the shot put (13.92m), while ranking 25th in the shot put (14.61m), 43rd in the hammer throw (47.13m), and 47th in the discus throw (42.16m) during the outdoor season. Langsner is a civil engineering major with a 3.884 GPA.

Martinez claimed All-UAA honors with a second-place finish in the javelin throw at the UAA Outdoor Championship, hitting a mark of 35.49 meters. The distance was good for the 16th-best throw by a Great Lakes Region athlete during the outdoor campaign. She has a 3.687 cumulative GPA as a nursing major.

Misiunas secured All-UAA acclaim during both the indoor campaign (placing second in the 60m hurdles) and the outdoor season (finishing third in the 100-meter hurdles). Her time of 8.99 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles at the UAA Indoor Championships set a new program record and ranked as the eighth-best mark in the region and 54th nationally. She was also 17th regionally and 96th nationally in the 100-meter hurdles (14.94) during the outdoor portion of the schedule. Misiunas graduated from CWRU with a 3.803 GPA as a psychology major.

Slater completed his junior season with a 3.969 cumulative GPA while majoring in mechanical engineering. He claimed all-region honors during the cross country season with a third-place finish at the Great Lakes Championship meet, going on to finish 99th at the NCAA Championship. He was also eighth in the region in the outdoor 5,000-meter run (14:49.76) and 13th in the indoor 3,000-meter run (8:38.17).

Taylor claimed All-UAA honors during the indoor season as a part of CWRU's third-place 4x400-meter relay team (3:59.96). She was ranked 22nd in the region in the 800-meter run (2:19.02) and 29th in the 400-meter dash (56.54 seconds) by the end of the indoor campaign, while recording the 50th-best outdoor 400-meter dash time (1:00.42) in the region. Taylor graduated with a 3.732 GPA as a neuroscience major.

The CSC Academic All-America Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Team will be announced on Tuesday, July 14, at noon, followed by the women's team on Wednesday, July 15, at noon.
