Spartans Fall to Top-Ranked Marlins to Open Super Regional

The Case Western Reserve University softball team lost 10-0 in five innings to top-ranked Virginia Wesleyan University in the first game of the best-of-three Super Regional Round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Championship on Thursday afternoon at Broyles Field in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The Spartans fell to 30-13 with the loss, while the Marlins improved to 49-0.

Game Summary

  • VWU scored two runs in the first inning and five in the second frame
  • The Spartans held the Marlins to just one run in the third stanza and two in the last inning
  • Senior pitcher Devanghi Misra entered the circle with one out and two runners on in the fourth inning and induced a double play
