Softball Ends Season in Super Regional

The 2026 season for the Case Western Reserve University softball team ended in the Super Regional Round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Championship when the Spartans lost to top-ranked Virginia Wesleyan 15-0 in five innings on Friday afternoon at Broyles Field in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The Spartans ended the campaign with a record of 30-14, the team's fifth consecutive season with at least 30 victories. Case Western Reserve reached the postseason in each of the last five years, advancing to the Super Regional Round three times in that span.

The Marlins moved to 50-0 and advanced to the finals of the national championship.

  • Senior Tara Fritscher ended her career as a Spartan with 80 games played and scored 28 runs in her four seasons on the squad
  • Senior Elizabeth Berry finished her career with 176 games played and 175 starts across four seasons, the second-most by any Spartan in program history. Berry collected 166 hits and 107 RBI, hitting .316 with 29 doubles and three home runs
  • The senior class went 138-40 (.775) over the last four seasons, reaching the NCAA Championship in 2024 where the team tied for seventh in Division III
