Jhaveri Named the ITA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year

Case Western Reserve University men's tennis assistant coach Saumil Jhaveri was named the Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for his contributions toward the team's success during the 2025-26 campaign.

The award recognizes an assistant coach who has exhibited outstanding leadership in ways that contribute to on and off-court team performance. By virtue of winning the regional honor, Jhaveri will be on the ballot for the National Division III Assistant Coach of the Year. He is the first CWRU coach to receive the regional award since Wade Heerboth in 2023.

"His impact on this team is difficult to overstate," said CWRU Head Coach Todd Wojtkowski. "He elevates the standard of work ethic and the importance of family. He has strengthened the culture and left a mark that will continue to influence our success long term. Quite simply, we are better because of Saumil."

Jhaveri's efforts this season have helped the fifth-ranked Spartans reach the NCAA quarterfinals for the sixth consecutive season. The team has gone 28-8 overall and placed second in the University Athletic Association and third at the ITA Indoor National Championship. He helped take

Jhaveri has been a volunteer assistant coach for the Spartans since the 2021 campaign. During his six seasons with the team, he has helped the squad win the NCAA Championship in 2023, reach the NCAA title match four times, and win the UAA title in 2023 and 2025. The team has an overall record of 156-32 over the past six seasons, good for an .830 winning percentage.

The Spartans will face fourth-ranked Denison in the NCAA quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
