  • Graduate student first baseman Eli Westrick and first-year third baseman James O'Connor each had two hits as well on Sunday.

Highlights & Scoring Recap

  • UChicago scored four runs in the first two innings of the game to take the early lead on the Spartans.

  • The Spartans loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth and got on the board with a sacrifice fly from Trout.

  • The Maroons got the run back in the top of the fifth and scored four in the top of the seventh to increase their lead to 9-1.

  • Trout connected for a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth, cutting the deficit to 9-3.

  • A double by junior catcher Carson Walker scored junior designated hitter Tyler Stillson in the ninth, but that would be all the Spartans would get in their final at-bat in the five-run loss.
