Following his outstanding start to the 2026 campaign on the mound, Case Western Reserve University junior Tyler Stillson was named the honorable mention Division III Pitcher of the Month by the National College Baseball Writers Association.
Stillson made a pair of starts during the month and won both, allowing just five hits and three walks with 21 strikeouts over 14.0 innings, while not allowing an earned run (and just one run total). He went the first 13.2 innings without giving up a run, and opponents finished the month hitting just .106 against him. Stillson's highlight performance came in a complete game win over Washington & Jefferson, during which he struck out a career-best 11 batters with just three hits and two walks allowed.
Stillson has also been a force at the plate this season, batting .407 with one home run and seven runs batted in.
Stillson is the first Spartan pitcher to be recognized by the NCBWA since Nick Denove was named the honorable mention pitcher of the week in 2020. Former Spartans Neal Krentz (2015) and Jarrett Gish (2012) also secured NCBWA Pitcher of the Week honors during their careers.
The Spartans have opened their 2026 campaign with a 5-2 record, and will begin a stretch of seven games in eight days at the Spartan Southern Classic in Lexington, South Carolina, with a doubleheader against Swarthmore on Saturday at noon.
