The Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team suffered its fourth-straight loss on Friday night, falling 72-63 to third-ranked Emory University at the Woodruff Physical Education Center in Atlanta.
The Spartans fell to 8-7 overall with a 0-4 record in the University Athletic Association, while Emory won its 13th consecutive game to improve to 14-1 with a 4-0 conference record.

Graduate student guard Ethan Edwards led the Spartans with 14 points in the game, adding two rebounds, an assist, and a pair of steals.

First-year forward Alex Vincent finished with 12 points, a career-high 14 rebounds, and four blocks.

Two other Spartans finished with over 10 rebounds, as junior forward Logan Brown and senior forward Andrew Fox collected 11 rebounds apiece.

First Half

CWRU scored the first six points of the game, taking a 6-0 lead with 17:40 left on a layup by Vincent.

The Spartans remained ahead until Emory took a 10-9 lead with 13:44 on the clock.

CWRU regained the lead, going ahead 15-14 with 11:53 left on a layup by Patel.

A jumper by first-year guard Anestis Hadjistamoulou put CWRU ahead 17-14 with 11:11 left, but Emory responded with eight unanswered points and scored 19 of the next 22 points in the game to go ahead 33-20 with 1:15 left in the first half.

Vincent and Edwards hit shots on back-to-back possessions to close the gap to nine points, 33-24, with 29 seconds left, but a late jumper by the Eagles put Emory ahead 35-24 heading into halftime.

CWRU's bench outscored Emory's 12-2 over the first 20 minutes of the game.

Second Half

CWRU opened the second half on an 11-2 run, keyed by seven points from Edwards, to pull back within two points, 37-35, with 16:40 to play in the game.

CWRU remained behind but within two possessions of Emory. A three-pointer by Brown with 11:18 to play made it a one-point game, 47-46. However, Emory responded with five unanswered points to go up 52-46 with 9:29 remaining.

CWRU pulled back within two points with 7:09 left after a layup by Fox made the score 53-51.

The Spartans trailed by just three points, 64-61, after a tip-in by Vincent with 2:28 left, but Emory ended the game on an 8-2 run to pull away late for the nine-point victory.

CWRU outrebounded Emory 54-42 during the game, marking the 11th time this season the squad has finished with more rebounds than its opponent and the ninth time it has ended a game with a double-figure rebound advantage.
