Women’s Soccer Scores Six Times in Win Over Allegheny

The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team continued its strong start to the season with a 6-0 win over Allegheny College on Sunday afternoon at DiSanto Field in Cleveland.

The Spartans improved to 2-0-0 on the season, while the Gators dropped to 0-2-0.

Six different players scored for CWRU in the contest after the team defeated Franciscan 7-0 in to open the campaign last Friday night.

First Half

  • Senior Ceci Dapino started the scoring in the 11th minute, curling a free kick from just beyond the box into the back of the net for her first goal of the season
  • CWRU doubled its lead on another set piece 80 seconds later when senior Alexis Sassower sent a corner kick into the middle of the box. Senior Jamie Goldfarb headed the ball past the Allegheny goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season. Sassower was credited with her second assist in 2025
  • In the 34th minute, first-year Izzy Probst received a throw-in outside the box, dribbled past a defender, and fired a shot into the lower right corner for her first career strike to increase the Spartan lead to three
  • CWRU led 3-0 at the break and held a 19-0 advantage in shots and 6-0 edge in corner kicks in the first 45 minutes of play

Second Half

  • Senior Mackenzie Mueller quickly found the back of the net in the second half, scoring her first goal of the season in the 48th minute. Senior Julia Flynn sent a cross in front of the goal which was skillfully deflected by Probst. Mueller used one touch to place the ball into the empty net. Probst earned her second assist of the season, and Flynn was credited with her first in 2025
  • Dapino found senior Maggie Farra about 30 yards from the goal in the 68th minute. Farra dribbled once and fired a long range shot past the Allegheny goalkeeper to make the score 5-0. It marked Farra's fourth goal of the season, and Dapino's second assist
  • The final Spartan tally came in the 71st minute off the foot of senior Molly Shamah. She ran with the ball down the far sideline unchallenged and entered the box along the end line. Shamah shot the ball toward the far post, and the ball curled in past the goalkeeper to increase the lead to six. It was Shamah's first goal of the year
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Ellie Palaian was not challenged in front of the net during her second shutout of the season. The CWRU defense allowed no shots in the entire 90 minutes of play
