Behind the second hat trick in three games for senior Maggie Farra, the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team easily won its third consecutive game to start the 2025 season, defeating crosstown rival John Carroll University 6-0 on Wednesday night at Don Shula Stadium in University Heights, Ohio.
The Spartans improved to 3-0-0 during the season, while the Blue Streaks dropped to 0-2-1.
Farra, who also scored three goals against Franciscan to open the campaign, is the first player in program history to record multiple hat tricks in their career or in a single season. She added an assist during the contest to match the program record of seven points set by former Spartan Anika Washburn against JCU on September 23, 2021.

She then sent a high cross to the back post, where senior Molly Shamah was running and connected with the ball. Her shot into the upper corner of the goal was unsavable and made the score 3-0
- For Shamah, it was her second goal of the season and the 12th of her career. Farra earned her first assist in the campaign

Spartan Notes
- CWRU set a program record for most goals in its first three games to start a season with 19. The Spartans defeated Franciscan 7-0 and Allegheny 6-0 to start the 2025 campaign. In 1992, the team opened the year by scoring 17 goals in three contests
- The 19 goals are the most in any three-game stretch in program history, besting the 18 Case Western Reserve scored in 1995. CWRU started the stretch with a 1-0 win over Carnegie Mellon on September 9, followed by 6-0 triumph over Muskingum on September 12 and an 11-0 victory over Lake Erie College on September 14
- The Spartans improved to 18-8-2 all-time against John Carroll in a series that dates back to 1990. CWRU earned revenge over the Blue Streaks for the last meeting between the teams in 2023 when John Carroll won 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at DiSanto Field
- Farra increased her career goals total to 15 and recorded the third multi-goal game of her career. Her seven goals this season lead the team and are the most in a single season for her career
- Sassower earned two assists in a single game for the first time in her career. It was the second multi-assist game for CWRU this season after Shamah also had two in the win over Franciscan
- Shamah recorded a goal and an assist in the same game for the first time in her career
- The Spartans extended their non-conference regular season undefeated streak to 55 games, going 51-0-4 in those contests dating back to 2018
