Case Western Reserve University senior outfielder Nick Harms, sophomore designated hitter Tyler Stillson, and graduate student third baseman Zack Carinci were each named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-American Team for their athletic and academic success over their collegiate careers and during the 2025 season in particular. Harms was named to the First Team while Stillson and Carinci each earned Second Team recognition.
The Academic All-America Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Players honored were nominated by their school's Sports Information Directors and chosen from the pool of Academic All-District honorees, which were released in June. To be eligible, players must be a starter or important reserve with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
Harms, who was named to the Academic All-America Third Team as a sophomore in 2023 and the Second Team as a junior in 2024, became the first player in program history and one of just two across Division III baseball this season to earn the honor three times over a career. He became the sixth Spartan to earn First Team honors, joining Jack Anderson (2024), Rocco Maue (2018 and 2019), Kerrigan Cain (2015), John Fortunado (2014), and Tom Mager (1997).
Carinci, who was an Academic All-America Third Team honoree as a junior in 2023, became the fifth multiple-time honoree in program history, joining Harms, Anderson (2023 and 2024), Tyler Horvath (2023 and 2024), and Maue. Stillson, who was recognized for the first time in his career, became the 11th CWRU baseball player all-time to be named an Academic All-American, and Spartan baseball has accumulated a total of 17 Academic All-American honors, including 10 over the last three seasons.
Since the inception of the program, 125 CWRU student-athletes have earned 185 Academic All-America selections, including 11 Spartan student-athletes so far this year.
Harms claimed a plethora of postseason honors in 2025, earning selection to the D3baseball.com All-America First Team, the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Third Team, the D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Teams, and the All-UAA First Team, in addition to being selected at the D3baseball.com Region Player of the Year and the UAA Most Outstanding Player. He was also recognized for his defensive prowess, earning ABCA Region All-Defensive Team honors. He finished the season hitting a team-high .401 with a .775 slugging percentage and a .498 on-base percentage. He connected for 14 home runs, the second-most in a season in program history while adding 14 doubles, six triples, 60 runs scored, 58 RBIs, and stole 17 bases on as many attempts. He was named the UAA Athlete of the Week on five occasions during the season and was selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week once. Harms was named the Most Valuable Player of the Cleveland Regional of the NCAA Division III Championship.
Harms holds a 3.976 cumulative GPA as a Computer Science major at CWRU.
Carinci was named to the All-UAA Second Team after playing in 40 games during the year, including 36 as a starter. He committed just two errors at third base during the year, notching a .981 fielding percentage at the hot corner. Carinci finished the campaign batting .345 with a .432 slugging percentage and a .416 on-base percentage while scoring 38 runs and driving in 27. He totaled nine doubles, one home run, and 16 stolen bases during the season.
Carinci, who received his Masters' in Finance at CWRU after recording a 3.575 GPA this year, held a 3.729 cumulative GPA as an undergraduate student majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Stillson, the utility player on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team and the D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team, and an All-UAA Second Team honoree, was a success both at the plate and on the mound during his sophomore campaign. Seeing time at a variety of positions, Stillson started all 45 games and batted .351 with a .573 slugging percentage and a .388 on-base percentage. He totaled 15 doubles, two triples, and eight home runs while scoring 42 runs and driving in 48 with seven stolen bases. On the mound, he went 2-1 over nine starts with a 6.02 ERA and 40 strikeouts with a .287 opponents' average in 43.1 innings of work. Stillson was named the UAA Pitcher of the Week once during the season.
Stillson, a Mechanical Engineering major, has a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA during his time at CWRU.
The Spartans finished the 2025 season with a 30-14-1 overall record, reaching the NCAA Championship for the third consecutive year and the eighth time overall in program history. CWRU reached the Super Regionals for the first time and claimed the UAA Championship for the sixth time.
