The 18th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team concluded its Senior Weekend with a 7-0 win over Otterbein University on Sunday evening at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club in Mayfield, Ohio.
The Spartans improved to 10-3 in dual matches this season, while the Cardinals dropped to 10-4.
CWRU lost just one game in doubles on its way to a sweep. Senior Anna Kan and junior Asha Shukla defeated Breanna Ball and Aubrey McMahon 6-0 at third doubles, and junior Elsa Syed and graduate student Laurel Utterback won 6-0 over Daniela De Mata and Olivia Eckels at second doubles. At first doubles, senior Lily McCloskey and junior Katalina Wang earned a 6-1 victory over Erin Storrer and Lillia Walter.
Shukla opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-3 win over De Mata on the second court, and sophomore Katie Wong did not drop a game at fourth singles, besting Ball 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Prachi Shah clinched the match by defeating Taryn Simmers 6-0, 6-2 at sixth singles. On court one, Kan earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Walter, while Syed followed with a victory by the same score over Eckels on the third court. To finish the match, junior Ellior Rose won 6-3, 6-2 over Cassady Shough at fifth singles.
The Spartans will next head to Atlanta for three matches in the Peach State. The road trip starts on Friday, April 11 with a 3 p.m. matchup against Berry.
