Four CWRU Women’s Basketball Players Earn Academic All-District Acclaim

The Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team saw four of its members named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team as sophomore guard Mya Hartjes, senior forward Evie Miller, senior guard Nyah Moore, and junior guard/forward Emily Plachta were each selected to receive the honor based on their academic and athletic achievements during the 2024-25 campaign.

The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Players honored were selected by their school's Sports Information Directors and must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. A maximum of four student-athletes from each school can be nominated.

This was the first career Academic All-District honor for each of the four CWRU players.

Hartjes was named to the All-University Athletic Association Second Team after starting all 25 games for the Spartans during the 2024-25 campaign and averaging a team-high 12.4 points and 3.7 assists per game. She added 5.3 rebounds per game with 25 steals and nine blocks while shooting 34.7% from the floor, including 36.1% from three-point range, and made 76.2% of her free throw attempts. Hartjes scored in double figures 18 times during the year and registered a pair of 20-point efforts, including a career-high 23 points against Mount Union on November 26.

Hartjes is a biomedical engineering major and has a 3.636 cumulative grade point average at CWRU. She received UAA All-Academic honors earlier in the year.

Miller started all 25 games for the Spartans and turned in the best year of her career as a senior, leading the team with 8.2 rebounds per game and adding career highs with 7.9 points and 1.4 assists. She was a force defensively with her 2.4 blocks per game ranking 17th in Division III, while her 60 total blocks were the second-most in a campaign in school history. The 127 blocks she accumulated over her career rank as the fourth-most ever by a Spartan. Miller scored a career-high 21 points against top-ranked NYU on February 23 and totaled three double-doubles during the campaign, including a 12-point, 12-rebound, seven-block effort against Denison on December 7.

Miller has a 3.676 cumulative GPA as a data science major and has been named to the UAA All-Academic team in each of her three eligible seasons.

Moore played in all 99 of the Spartans' games during her four-year career and started all 25 games for the team this season, averaging 4.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game. She added 17 steals and seven blocks and finished the campaign shooting 31.3% from the floor and 27.7% from long range. She scored a career-high 12 points against John Carroll on November 15, one of four double-digit scoring efforts for her during the season.

Moore will graduate from CWRU in May with a major in nutrition and dietetics and holds a 3.777 cumulative GPA. She is a three-time UAA All-Academic honoree.

Plachta started all 24 games she played in during the season and was second among all Spartan players with 11.5 points per game, the highest total of her career. She added 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while collecting 36 steals and 26 blocks. Plachta finished the season shooting 33.7% overall and 29.5% from three-point territory. She scored in double figures 16 times during the year, including four 20-point outputs and a career-high 22 points in a win against WashU on January 17.

Plachta, who received UAA All-Academic honors earlier in the year, has a 3.500 cumulative GPA at CWRU and is majoring in civil engineering.
