Plachta & Reimer Reach Milestones in 63-50 Win over Rochester

Case Western Reserve University senior guard/ forward Emily Plachta scored a team-high 16 points to surpass 1,000 for her career, and Head Coach Jennifer Reimer secured her 200th career win with the program, as the Spartans bested the University of Rochester 63-50 at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland on Sunday.

The Spartans improved to 10-14 overall with the win and raised their University Athletic Association record to 3-10 with one game remaining in the season. The Yellowjackets fell to 11-13 with a 4-9 UAA ledger following the loss.

Stats and Standouts


  • Plachta scored half of her points in the fourth quarter to help CWRU lock down the win. She finished the day shooting six-of-15 from the floor and made four-of-six free throws with two rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block. She became the 17th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points, and the first since former Spartan Isabella Mills reached the mark during the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Junior forward Maura Schorr added a double-double with 14 points and a career-high 13 rebounds with four steals.

  • Junior guard Jordyn Call contributed 14 points in the game, making six-of-eight shots from inside the perimeter.

  • Junior guard Mya Hartjes finished the game with 11 points, eight rebounds, a team-high five assists, and two steals.

  • Junior forward Biz Watson led all CWRU players with a career-best 14 rebounds, along with two points, one assist, three steals, and two blocks. 

  • The Spartans forced a season-high 23 turnovers (including 12 steals) and finished with a 21-11 edge in points off turnovers.

First Period


  • The Spartans never led in the first quarter but kept Rochester close before the Yellowjackets scored seven straight points to go ahead 13-6 with 2:28 left.

  • Call, who scored 12 points in the first half, closed the gap with four points down the stretch of the frame, and a free throw from Plachta with five seconds cut the Rochester lead to 13-11 by the end of the period.

Second Period


  • Hartjes scored the opening basket of the second quarter to tie the game, and a jumper from Call capped off a 9-0 run and gave CWRU its first lead of the day, 15-13 with 8:21 left in the half.

  • Rochester tied the game at 15-15, but Call followed with four-straight points to push the CWRU lead to 19-15 and force a Yellowjackets time-out with 6:16 on the clock.

  • After the Yellowjackets knotted the score at 19 apiece, CWRU scored nine-straight points, going in front 28-19 with 2:51 left following a jumper by Call.

  • CWRU withstood a late run by Rochester to take a 29-24 lead into halftime.

Third Period


  • The Spartans were able to expand their lead to eight points, 37-29, by the 7:13 mark, and took their first double-figure lead of the game with 1:53 left in the third, going ahead 44-34 on a three by sophomore guard/forward Lauren Ludwig.

  • A tip-in by Schorr with 13 seconds left in the period put CWRU up by 12, 48-36, going into the final period.

Fourth Period


  • CWRU never trailed in the fourth, although Rochester was able to close the gap to six points, 51-45, with 5:04 to go.

  • Hartjes and Plachta combined to score six unanswered points over the next 90 seconds to push the Spartans' lead back to 12.

  • Plachta hit a layup with 2:29 left in the game to give CWRU a 16-point lead, 61-45, and surpass the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Spartan Notes


  • Plachta's 1,003 career points rank as the 15th-most in a career in program history. She will enter the final game of her career next week 17 points away from Caitlin Henry (2007-11) for the 14th place in program history, and 18 points from matching Angie Zeuch for 13th.

  • Including her 200 wins at CWRU, Reimer, the winningest coach in program history, now stands at 357-349 (.506) for her career.

  • Hartjes now has 249 career assists, surpassing Alicia Marie Gonzales (2016-20) for ninth in program history. She made one three-pointer on Sunday to match her career high, which ranks as the sixth most in a season in program history.

  • Schorr notched her second-straight double-double and her team-leading sixth of the season.

  • CWRU led for over 27 minutes of the game on Sunday.

  • The Spartans improved to 19-45 all-time against Rochester and have won four of the last seven meetings.

  • CWRU improved to 5-5 in home games this season following the victory on Sunday.

Up Next


The Spartans will wrap up their 2025-26 campaign next weekend, hosting Carnegie Mellon at 3:00 p.m. at Horsburgh Gymnasium. CWRU will recognize its graduating players with a special 'Senior Day' ceremony prior to the start of the contest.
