The Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team wrapped up play at the Baldwin Wallace Holiday Classic with a 76-52 loss to the hosts and 23rd-ranked Yellow Jackets in Berea, Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon.
The loss dropped the Spartans to 6-4 overall for the season, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 10-2.
Junior guard Mya Hartjes and senior guard/forward Emily Plachta were each named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts over the two tournament games. Hartjes averaged 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds over the two games, while Plachta added 16.0 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Hartjes finished Tuesday's game with 16 points, five rebounds, and one assist. She made six-of-12 shots overall and converted four of seven tries from long range.

Plachta tallied 16 points as well to tie Hartjes for the team lead, shooting six-of-11 overall and three-of-seven from behind the three-point line. She added two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Junior forward Maura Schorr did a bit of everything, finishing the contest with six points, six rebounds, and a career-high-matching five steals.

CWRU finished the game shooting 32.8% overall (20-61) and 39.1% from three-point range (9-23). The Spartans' starting five accounted for all but three of the team's points in the game. CWRU finished the game with a 14-3 edge in steals.
First Period

Schorr started an 11-0 Spartan run early in the first quarter with a jumper, as the visitors took a 14-6 lead on a three-pointer by Hartjes midway through the period.

Baldwin Wallace scored the next 10 points to reclaim the advantage.

Plachta drained a three-pointer on the next possession to put CWRU ahead 17-16, but the Yellow Jackets responded with four points in a row.

The hosts led 20-18 after 10 minutes of play.
Second Period

The Spartans began the second quarter with three consecutive layups, getting two baskets from senior guard Maya Roberts and one from junior guard Jordyn Call.

A Hartjes three put Case Western Reserve ahead 27-22 with 7:38 left in the half.

Baldwin Wallace tied the score at 29 a few minutes later and took a 34-29 lead with a three-pointer and a layup.

Call drained a three to cut the deficit to two at 3:05, but the Spartans were held scoreless for the rest of the half, trailing 38-32 when the teams headed into the locker rooms.
Third Period

Baldwin Wallace extended its lead to 12, 44-32, with six points early in the second half.

Plachta ended the run with a three-pointer, but the Yellow Jackets matched with back-to-back threes to increase their advantage to 15 with 5:15 left in the frame.

CWRU cut the Yellow Jackets' lead to nine with 3:35 left, 50-41, after unanswered layups from Hartjes, Schorr, and Plachta, but Baldwin Wallace increased its lead back to 15, 58-43, by the end of the third.
Fourth Period

A three-pointer by junior forward Biz Watson with 4:43 to go pulled CWRU back within 16 points, 68-52, but that would be as close as the Spartans would get for the remainder of the game, as the Yellow Jackets closed out the contest on an 8-0 run to pull away late.

Hartjes leads the team with 16.1 points per game this season, while Plachta is right behind her with 15.7 points per game.
