Men’s Soccer Falls to Trine on Last-Minute Goal

The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team suffered a last-minute 1-0 loss to Trine University on Friday night at DiSanto Field in Cleveland.

With the loss, the Spartans fell to 2-2-0 on the season. The Thunder improved to 2-2-0.

CWRU outshot Trine 11-4 during the game, including a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal. Senior Kysen Kroeger tallied three shots, and senior Camden Larson and sophomore David Pineda both had two.

Trine's Anes Dervisevic scored with 13 seconds remaining in the contest to break the deadlock.

In goal, junior Stephen Vilardo faced four shots and recorded one save.

The Spartans will look to rebound when they host Stockton on Sunday. Kickoff at DiSanto Field scheduled for 12 p.m.

Spartan Notes

  • The CWRU defensive shutout streak was snapped at 342 minutes and 34 seconds after the team blanked its previous two opponents
  • Vilardo made his first career start in front of the net for the Spartans after appearing in two games as a substitute goalkeeper in 2023 and 2022. He also started in the field for CWRU earlier this season
