Thirteen members of the Case Western Reserve University football team were selected to the 2024 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, based on their academic and athletic achievements over their collegiate career.
Spartans recognized included defensive lineman R.J. Ayers, defensive lineman Michael Kelly, offensive lineman Peter Kelly, defensive lineman William Kerr, wide receiver Riley Knurek, linebacker Brandon Manning, offensive lineman Jace Merritt, defensive lineman Jacob Scheponik, linebacker Jake Sommers, linebacker Marco Toth, tight end Dominic Wade, wide receiver Michael Wojkowski, and defensive back D.J. Wolf.
Players honored by the NFF Hampshire Society have maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or higher. Players nominated must either be a senior or graduate student at the end of their playing careers, and a starter or significant contributor throughout the 2023 season.
A total of 2,016 players from 343 different schools across all Divisions of the NCAA, NAIA, and sprint football were selected to this year's honor society, setting a new record for the number of members in a single year during the program's 18-year history. CWRU was one of just 28 Division III programs and 59 programs overall that had at least 10 honorees.
CWRU finished the 2023 season with a 7-3 overall record, its highest win total since the 2019 campaign, and ended the campaign fourth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference standings. The Spartans are slated to open their 2024 campaign on Saturday, September 7 on the road against Waynesburg.
