Case Western Reserve University first-year vaulter Holly Schreiber of the women's track and field team broke the school record in the pole vault at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet inside the MAAC in Alliance, Ohio, on Saturday.
Schreiber cleared 3.70 meters on her third and final attempt to set the new program-best mark. Earlier in the event, she broke the previous record of 3.64 meters set by classmate Annie Wank this season by clearing 3.65 meters on her second attempt. Schreiber placed third in the event, with Wank placing fifth after clearing 3.35 meters.
Sophomore Michelle Lee was also in action in Alliance, placing fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.07 meters.
Sophomore Anthony DeCarlo represented the CWRU men's track and field team in the pole vault, placing third by clearing 4.10 meters.
The Mount Union Last Chance was the final scheduled meet of the indoor season for the CWRU track and field teams. The top 20 individuals in each event and top 12 relays in Division III will be selected for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships with the official announcement published on ncaa.com on Sunday evening. Case Western Reserve will begin its outdoor season with the W&L Track Carnival in Lexington, Virginia, on March 15 and 16.
