Box Score 2 The seventh-ranked Case Western Reserve University softball team ended its spring break trip with a pair of wins on Friday at the DiamondPlex in Winter Haven, Florida defeating Hope College 9-0 and the University of Wisconsin Stout 5-1.
With the wins, the Spartans improved to 14-0 on the season, extending their program-record winning streak to 14 games. The Flying Dutch fell to 3-4 after the first game, and the Blue Devils dropped to 4-11.
Senior infielder Amanda Riely went six-for-seven in the two games with a double, including a career-best four-hit performance in the first contest to raise her team-high batting average to .477. First-year catcher Anna Gobeyn hit a home run and a double during the day, collecting four runs batted in.

Sophomore pitcher Lexi Miskey worked into and out of trouble in the first inning, allowing two baserunners with one out but then striking out the next two batters to keep Hope off the board.
The Spartan offense rewarded her with two runs in the top of the next inning. Riely singled to lead off the frame and Gobeyn put two runs on the board for CWRU with her second home run in as many games.
Gobeyn drove in two more runs for Case Western Reserve in the third inning. With two outs, Riely and sophomore infielder Isabella Russo hit a pair of singles. Senior outfielder Carli Tucci reached on an error to extend the inning, allowing Gobeyn to deliver a bases loaded two-run single to put the Spartans ahead 4-0.
First-year outfielder Brianna Landers used her speed to score the fifth CWRU run the following inning. Following a leadoff walk, Landers stole second and reached third on a single pitch. She crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by junior outfielder Stevie Rieger. In the final frame, the Spartans added four runs, with junior infielder KaiLi Gross delivering a run-scoring single, two runs scoring on a Hope error, and Russo driving in a run with a double.
Miskey (8-0) struck out double-digit batters for the third time this season, recording 10 punchouts in just five shutout innings. She allowed only one hit and four walks, lowering her season earned run average to 1.57. Junior Jenna Jaklich struck out two batters in a scoreless sixth inning, and first-year Devanghi Misra completed the shutout with a scoreless seventh, recording her first career strikeout.
No. 7 CWRU 5, Wis.-Stout 1
CWRU scored in the first inning, loading the bases with a single and two hit batters. Rieger drew a two-out walk to force in the first run of the game.
In the third inning, the Spartans took advantage of Blue Devil errors to score twice. With Russo and Riely on first and third, Riely stole second, drawing an errant throw by the catcher to score Russo. Later in the inning, Tucci scored on a fielding error off the bat of Rieger.
Case Western Reserve added two more runs in the fifth inning, with Riely scoring on a passed ball following a Gobeyn double and Tucci driving in a run with a groundout. Stout prevented the shutout with a run in the seventh.
Sophomore pitcher Kylie Hosey (6-0) retired nine batters in a row from the first to the fourth inning. She earned the win, her sixth of the season, completing six innings with seven strikeouts. Hosey allowed no runs on just two hits and no walks, lowering her ERA to 0.91. Jaklich struck out a batter in the final inning, allowing only an unearned run on no hits.
With their spring break trip complete, the Spartans will turn their attention to conference play, starting with a four-game series at Emory in Atlanta next weekend. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday, March 24.
