Box Score The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team closed out its fall season this weekend at the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia.
In the singles draw, junior Ajay Mahenthiran bounced back from a loss in his opening match to win his next two. He opened play on Thursday with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to fourth-seeded Matthew Kandel of Williams in the round of 16. However, in the consolation draw, he went on to defeat Gustavus Adolphus' Gage Gohl in straight-sets, 6-4, 7-6 (1) before claiming a 6-3, 6-3 win against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Advik Mareedu, the top-seeded play in the draw.
In the doubles draw, top-seeded senior Vishwa Aduru and graduate student Diego Maza suffered a pair of losses, falling in three sets to Marco Siviero and Josh Christensen of Gustavus Adolphus, 6-2, 3-6, 10-4, in the first round of the main draw, and 6-3, 6-3 to Chapman's Caleb Wilkins and Ian Jordan in the consolation draw.
CWRU will be back in action in February when the team begins its spring 2024 season, as it aims to follow up on its National Championship campaign in 2023.
