Men’s Soccer Plays Rochester to Scoreless Draw

The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team traveled to Rochester, New York, on Saturday afternoon and battled the University of Rochester to a scoreless draw at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

The Spartans moved to 7-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in University Athletic Association play. The Yellowjackets stand at 6-1-5 and 0-1-2 in conference play.

The Case Western Reserve defense had perhaps its best match of the season, allowing just one shot across all 90 minutes. Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Winter earned his sixth shutout of 2023, saving one shot to lower his goals against average to 0.46. CWRU has shut out seven opponents this season in 11 matches.

Offensively, the Spartans recorded 11 shots in the contest. Senior midfielder Matt Vatne led the squad with four shots, and senior midfielder Jacob Salmon, junior midfielder Camden Larson, and sophomore forward Kysen Kroeger adding two shots each.

The Spartans return home to DiSanto Field for the final time this season next weekend, hosting the 17th-ranked University of Chicago on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Sunday marks the final home match of the year for CWRU and will be the team's Senior Day.
