Box Score The seventh-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team won its 10th consecutive match on Saturday night at Gaelic Park in The Bronx, New York, defeating New York University 3-0.
The Spartans improved to 10-0-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in University Athletic Association matches. CWRU is one of two remaining undefeated and untied teams in Division III and one of four unblemished teams left across all three NCAA divisions. The Violets suffered their first loss of the campaign, dropping to 5-1-5 overall and 0-1-1 in UAA contests.
First-year forward Maggie Farra opened the scoring in the 37th minute with her first career goal. She received a long arcing pass from senior defender Elizabeth White outside the box. Farra took advantage of the drawn-forward Violet keeper, lacing a long shot into the top corner of the goal to give CWRU the lead. White earned her first assist of the season on the play.
Neither team scored for the remainder of the half, with the sides combining for just four shots in the first 45 minutes. Graduate student forward Samantha Cramin doubled the Spartan advantage in the 69th minute with her fifth goal of the season. She collected a rebound off a shot from graduate student forward Camryn Hartman and found the back of the net to make the score 2-0. Hartman earned her team-leading fifth assist of the campaign on the play and has recorded a goal or an assist in nine of the team's 10 matches this season.
In the final minute of play, senior midfielder Anika Washburn found the back of the net for the first time this season and the 32nd time of her career, extending her program record for career goals.
Junior goalkeeper Maggie Storti saved three shots and earned the win, her 10th of the season and the 26th of her career. She is now one win away from tying the program record for career goalkeeper wins, set by former Spartan Anna Kennedy from 2008-11. Storti recorded her fourth shutout in 2022 and the 14th of her career, lowering her goals against average to 0.53.
CWRU will look to maintain its winning streak next weekend when the team heads to St. Louis and Chicago for a pair of UAA matches. The Spartans will face WashU on Friday night before playing the University of Chicago on Sunday afternoon.
