After hitting just -.049 in the opening set, the Spartans rebounded with an impressing .350 mark in the second set to claim a 25-21 win and take a 2-0 lead in the match. CWRU trailed 18-15 in the second set and 20-18 before back-to-back kills by Marfatia evened the match at 20-20. The Spartans continued to rally, taking a 22-20 lead before John Carroll scored to pull back within a point, but CWRU scored the final three points in the set, securing the victory on a kill by first-year Amanda Ngo.

CWRU pulled away in the third set, hitting .200 and leading by as many as eight points in the frame, before wrapping up the match with a 25-18 victory.
