The Spartans improved to 12-0-0 on the season and 4-0-0 in University Athletic Association play. CWRU tied a program record with its 12th consecutive victory and set a new single season record for consecutive wins. The four wins in conference play also tie a program record with the 2021 and 2011 teams. Case Western Reserve remains the last undefeated and untied team in Division III and one of two unblemished teams across all three NCAA Divisions. The Maroons fell to 7-6-1 and 0-3-1 in the UAA.
In the 17th minute, the Spartans broke the deadlock on their first shot of the match. With space in the middle of the field, Meyer received a pass from senior forward Aniya Hartzler. Meyer shot the ball from about 25 yards away into the top corner of the goal. The well-placed shot was out of the reach of the Chicago goalkeeper and found the back of the net. It was the second goal of the season for Meyer and the fifth assist of the season for Hartzler. The assist was the 16th of Hartzler's career, tying her for sixth in program history.
Junior goalkeeper Maggie Storti and the Spartan defense were able to keep the Maroons off the board for the full 90 minutes. Chicago tallied 15 shots in the contest, with nine of them either blocked or saved by CWRU. Storti recorded two saves and her fifth shutout of the season, lowering her goals against average to 0.53.
Graduate student forward Camryn Hartman had two of the team's five shots, including two on goal. Overall, four of the Spartans' five shots were on target.
With a break in the UAA schedule, CWRU will face its final non-conference foe of the season on Friday, welcoming Asbury University to DiSanto Field at 7 p.m. to start a season-ending four-match homestand. The Spartans will be honoring seven of their team members prior to the match on Friday as part of their Senior Day celebration.
