Box Score 2 The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team lost both of their matches in the third University Athletic Association Round Robin held at the Woodruff P.E. Center in Atlanta, Ga. on Sunday afternoon, falling to Washington (Mo.) University in four sets and then dropping a three-set match to 10th-ranked New York University.
With the pair of setbacks, the Spartans drop to 9-11 overall and 2-5 in the UAA.
Versus WashU (12-7, 3-3 UAA), the Spartans lost the match 25-20, 25-19, 20-25 and 25-17. First-year outside hitter Rea Marfatia posted the squads top kill total with 13, while junior Sara Rogers and first-year Ansley Yamaato split the setting duties with 15 and 11 assists, respectively. Defensively, sophomore libero Alyssa Blessinger tallied a team-high 17 digs.
Against NYU (17-1, 6-1 UAA), the Spartans fell by scores of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-20. Marfatia posted a team-high 10 kills. Rogers and Yamaato each registered 11 assists, while Blessinger led the defense with 10 digs.
The team awaits their seed in the conference tournament, pending the results of the final contests in Round Robin #3. Next, CWRU will prepare to welcome Ohio Wesleyan University to Horsburgh Gymnasium for a mid-week match on Wednesday, October 20. The match is slated to start at 7:00 p.m.
