The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team went 2-0 on the second day of the Bengal Challenge hosted by Buffalo State in Buffalo, New York after defeating Geneva College 3-1 and Buffalo State 3-0, finishing the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record.

The Spartans improved to 8-3 overall for the 2018 season. Case Western Reserve was named co-champions of the 2018 Buffalo State Bengal Challenge, as both CWRU and the University of Rochester finished the tournament with records of 3-0.

Sophomore libero Anna Jaskoviak was named the Spartans representative for the All-Tournament Team, as she led the squad with 50 digs throughout the three games.

After dropping the first set against Geneva 25-23, the Spartans fought back to win the next three sets (25-21, 27-25, 25-16).

Junior outside hitter Brianna Lemon led the Spartan attack with 14 kills, while junior middle hitter Haley Sims added 13. Junior setter Faith Ellis tallied 26 assists and sophomore setter Jordyn Harberts registered 22. Defensively, Jaskoviak recorded a team-high 19 digs, while Lemon contributed 14 to the team total.

In the second match of the day against Buffalo State, CWRU won in straight sets 25-17, 25-9 and 25-11.

Sophomore middle blocker Katie Kaminski paced the attack with eight kills, while Lemon, Sims and junior outside hitter Karley King each contributed seven to the Spartan total. Harberts and Ellis set up the Spartan offense again, recording 15 and 13 assists, respectively. Jaskoviak tallied a team-high 15 digs and Lemon registered 14.

The Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday, September 19^th as they travel to Berea, Ohio to take on Baldwin Wallace University at 7:00 p.m.
