Box Score SANFORD, Fla. - The 15th-ranked Case Western Reserve baseball team dropped to 4-2 at the 2015 UAA Baseball Championship after falling 9-2 to Washington University in St. Louis.
Sophomore pitcher Connor Faix (Brunswick, OH/St. Edward) yielded just one earned run and struck out five in 5.2 innings in taking the loss. The Spartans committed five errors.
Sophomore centerfielder Antonio Damiano (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) doubled in both CWRU runs in the eighth inning and accounted for two of the six Spartan hits.
Sophomore leftfielder Josh Neal (Gaithersburg, MD/St. John's College) and sophomore rightfielder Aaron Cain (Hartville, OH/Archbishop Hoban) each contributed a hit and run scored.
Senior catcher Jordan Swisher (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) recorded the Spartans' first hit in the fifth inning and sophomore catcher Eric Eldred (Tecumseh, MI/Tecumseh) added a pinch-hit single in the ninth inning.
The Spartans are now tied with Washington University with a 4-2 record, currently one-half game behind Emory University.
