ATLANTA - Junior Connor Farrell (Bedord Corners, N.Y./Fox Lane) placed fourth in the 1-meter dive on the opening day of the 2015 University Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championship at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center. 

Farrell just missed All-UAA honors (top three), but did top his previous career-best finish (seventh) in the event. He posted 475.05 points in prelims then 485.55 during finals. 

Senior Austin Blease of New York University won the individual title and broke his own meet record with 567.70 points during finals. 

Farrell competes once more this weekend in the 3-meter dive on Friday, February 13. 

The rest of the Spartans begin competition tomorrow (Thursday, February 12) with 10:00 a.m. prelims and 5:30 p.m. finals. The team has placed in the top five in each of the last four seasons, including a program best-tying third-place performance in 2012.
