Box Score PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The impressive start to the career of Case Western Reserve University freshman pitcher Rebecca Taylor (Greensburg, Pa./Great Latrobe) continues to yield accolades. On Tuesday, Taylor was named University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for the second time in as many weeks of team competition.
Taylor pitched the Spartans (3-2 overall) to a pair of victories on Saturday, March 10 at the National Training Center Games in Clermont, Florida. In 14 innings of work, the rookie hurler posted a 1.00 earned run average with 17 strikeouts. In Case's 3-1 win versus the State University of New York-Plattsburgh, Taylor allowed just one run on six hits and struck out a career-best 12 batters.
With five complete games this spring, Taylor has a 1.44 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 34 innings of work.
The Spartans open UAA Championship action this afternoon versus Washington University-St. Louis at 12:30 p.m. in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Overall, Case plays eight conference games in five days.
