Box Score ATLANTA – The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team dropped a four-setter with No. 16 nationally-ranked University of Chicago to finish fourth after the second and final day of the 2012 University Athletic Association Championship Tournament at Woodruff Physical Education Center.
The Spartans end the season at 24-11 overall, 5-5 in the UAA. The 24 victories tie the 2010, 2009 and 1998 squads for the third-most in program history, while the fourth-place finish is the third-straight for the team.
Chicago (28-10, 8-2 UAA) won by scores of 25-15, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-17.
Sophomore middle hitter Natalie Southard (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors School) led the attack with nine kills, while freshman outside hitter Carolyn Bogart (New Berlin, Wis./New Berlin Eisenhower) contributed eight. Senior Breana Freeman (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) and freshman Robyn Marks (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Mott) split the setting duties with 22 and 14 assists, respectively.
Defensively, senior libero Rachel Gulasey (Cleveland, Ohio/Magnificat) led the way with 16 digs, while Freeman totaled 11.
Freeman finishes her career as the program's all-time leader with 3,739 assists, while Gulasey concludes her four years as the digs record-holder with 2,239.
