Box Score OBERLIN, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team concluded the road non-conference portion of its 2012 schedule with a 3-0 victory at Oberlin College on Wednesday evening inside Philips Gymnasium.
The Spartans improve to 21-9 overall heading into a regular season-ending tri-match at home on Saturday, October 27. With the loss, Oberlin falls to 8-15.
Wednesday's match was decided by scores of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-14.
Freshman outside hitter Carolyn Bogart (New Berlin, Wis./New Berlin Eisenhower) led a balanced attack with 13 kills versus just two errors in 21 attempts (.524). Freshman middle hitter Haley Kauffman (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) contributed a career-high eight kills.
Senior setter Breana Freeman (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) paced the offense with 40 assists, while senior libero Rachel Gulasey (Cleveland, Ohio/Magnificat) led the defense with 14 digs.
The Spartans wrap up the regular season this Saturday versus Ursuline College at 11:00 a.m. and Kenyon College at 3:00 p.m. at Horsburgh Gymnasium. The event is designated as a "Dig for the Cure" match with all proceeds going to benefit Case Comprehensive Cancer Center for Breast Cancer Research as well as Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
