The Spartans are 10-4 overall following an impressive 3-0 sweep versus The College of Wooster a week ago at Horsburgh Gymnasium. Senior middle hitter Tricia McCutchan led the attack with 16 kills and a .433 hitting percentage en route to earning her second University Athletic Association Player of the Week award of 2011. McCutchan enters the match with 203 kills this season and 1,663 for her career -- just 17 behind Lindsey Deyer (1998-00) for the CWRU record.
In addition to McCutchan, senior outside hitter Rachael Suchy and freshman middle hitter Natalie Southard have each reached the 100-kill mark early on -- Suchy with 126 and Southard with 100. Junior setter Breana Freeman leads the team with 501 assists, while juniors Rachel Gulasey and Olivia Stanton-Ameisen have led the defense with 224 and 148 digs, respectively.
Following tonight's match, the Spartans will hit the road for the first of two UAA Round Robins on Saturday and Sunday, October 1 and 2 hosted by Washington University-St. Louis. The Spartans do not play again at home until Wednesday, Oct. 26.
