Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team improved to 10-4 overall with a sweep of The College of Wooster on Tuesday evening at Horsburgh Gymnasium. The Spartans were victorious by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-21.
The Spartans have the next week off from competition and will return to action at home versus cross-town rival Baldwin-Wallace College on Tuesday, September 27. Wooster has its four-match win streak snapped and drops to 9-2 overall.
Senior middle hitter Tricia McCutchan (Hamilton, Ohio/Stephen T. Badin) led the attack with 16 kills and a .433 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Allie Palmer (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) and senior outside hitter Rachael Suchy (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) posted eight kills apiece. Junior setter Breana Freeman (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) paced the offense with 34 assists.
Defensively, junior specialist Olivia Stanton-Ameisen (Bryn Mawr, Pa./The Baldwin School) and Freeman led the way with 10 digs each. McCutchan contributed nine to the Spartan effort.
Following next Tuesday's match versus B-W, the Spartans open University Athletic Association play with the first of two Round Robins on Saturday and Sunday, October 1-2 at Washington University-St. Louis.
